Turning 26: Wait am I really in my late 20s?

You guys, on Monday I turn 26. Insert: where the hell did the time go? But really, I can't believe in less than a week I'll be a part of the 'late 20s' crowd.

::Sigh::

Today, I had a little chat with a colleague and friend about how we'd always imagined as little kids what we'd look like in our 20s. I know I always envisioned myself as a successful, corporate and trendy woman, with a creative job in New York City, a brown stone walk-up, and most likely a six-figure salary.

Well, surprise that's not me at all. I'm actually sitting in workout pants at my job and my hair is a sweaty post-spin class mess, I don't in fact live in NYC nor do I live in a brown stone (although my apartment complex does have brick. Does that count?), but I'm in the Queen City, I'm certainly not making a six-figure salary, but ya know what? Who the hell cares. It's funny how as a little girl you might have imagined you'd be living this fluffy lifestyle of glamour and money and incredible clothes and all that stuff that comes with being a so-called 'adult'. As I sit back and enjoy my last full week of being in my mid-20s (with lots of vino, obviously), I must say I'm pretty content where I am right now. I don't work at Elle magazine like I always imagined I would and I don't have some chic lifestyle in NYC, but I love where I am. So all you 20-something-year-olds, don't feel like you're not where you're supposed to be because you're exactly where you need to be.

Bring it on 26, I'm ready for you...
